Ma Wanjibung – Sour Yam
By Shaun Edwards
Ma Wanjibung (Sour Yam) is one of my Kokoberrin totems and a story passed down through generations of my family. More than a food source, the sour yam represents nourishment, resilience and the enduring relationship between people and Country. This work honours the annual harvesting of this important bush food and celebrates the knowledge systems that have sustained Kokoberrin people for countless generations. Through this painting I acknowledge my ancestors and the living cultural connections that continue to guide us today.
